painful reads

Reading fics can physically pain me sometimes, and not in the good way where my heart clenches at the hurt author is throwing at our beloved character.

It pains me so much when I find a fic that has the greatest idea/plotline behind it but the execution is less than subpar. Like it's not even like they can't write, they have amazing potential, they have the characterizations alright, the emotions are pretty great. But my god, the grammar is just terrible and all the mistakes are in the simplest things like using too when you should use to, or they're when it should be their. Or spelling mistakes like complement for compliment.

It especially pains me when the writer has written so many fics for that fandom and is some what of a recognizable name. /sighs A half decent beta should catch all that, I mean, it's not unreadable (I read it while cringing but I could read it with no major problems but it is just so damn painfully distracting), it's just that it needs someone to reread it for these ridiculously simple mistakes and it would be perfect.

*I am not a perfect writer, hell, I am not even all that great. But I know I would never let myself make these mistakes with or without a beta. And dammit, this just frustrates me to no ends. I MEAN, LIKE YOU COULD BE SO GREAT.
